Heath hurt his back so badly that he was lying there frozen on the 3rd floor of our flat.
It was completely shocking if only because he’s a strong, athletic guy and it’s not like he was playing with anvils or moving grand pianos or something. It was just this weird twinge. And then all of a sudden it evolved into an explosive, paralytic, Defcon 3 kind of pain. From 1 minute to the next he was on the floor and we were trying to figure out how to get him… somewhere. We didn’t know what to do in that situation, exactly.
Luckily, we have a chiropractic clinic close by. When the ‘twinge’ started up (pre-floor-writhing) we’d called to make an appointment with them. What we didn’t know was how lucky we were that we did.
When things went from bad to worse, I called them again to ask for advice or guidance and Dr. Amy Thiesburger (one of the practicing chiropractors on site) immediately kept me on the phone, and walked me through basic first aid assessment and some professional chiropractic recommendations for the situation. Sight unseen. She was amazing.
After everything settled down (including paramedics, creative fort building, and contingency planning for the week) we called Labelle Chiropractic back to make another appointment for Heath.
“Hi. My girlfriend called the other day about my back…” Heath began.
“Heath how are you doing?!”
Amy instantly knew who he was. We were in awe.
Not only that, they made every single effort to get us in for an appointment that same day.
Less than a week later —and a couple appointments in to his new therapy, Dr. Jeff Labelle drove in and opened his office in the middle of a snow storm just to do another adjustment for Heath.
I was so moved. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such a dedicated and sincere team.
“Thank you so much…”
“I love what I do, and I do what I love.” He said, shrugging his shoulders with a modest smile.
Amazing.
